5. REDUCING N LOADS TO TAMPA BAY USING BIORETENTION SYSTEMS
Emma Lopez & Laura Rankin, USF, will discuss the outcomes of a Tampa Bay Environmental Fund (2014) project to promote the use of bioretention systems in the Tampa Bay watershed. The specific goals of the project were to: 1) investigating the hydrologic and water quality performance of bioretention systems in East Tampa, 2) developing a skilled workforce trained in the design, installation and maintenance of bioretention systems and 3) fostering environmental stewardship among residents of low income communities.
