Below are links to the Proceedings from the presentations given at the fifth Tampa Bay Area Scientific Information Symposium held October 20–23, 2009 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since its inception in 1987, the BASIS conference series has provided a forum for sharing state-of-the-art research on Tampa Bay. The theme of BASIS 5, Using Knowledge to Shape the Future, is organized around the important components of the estuary: Geology & Sediments, Circulation, Water Quality & Primary Productivity, Water Quality & Ecosystem Implications, Seagrass Resources & Management, Ecosystem Restoration & Management, Biota, and Tidal Tributaries, as well as Environmental Regulations & Protections, Archaeology & Anthropology and Science Communication. More than 200 scientists, resource managers and students from the Tampa Bay area participated in the symposium, which included 75 papers and posters.
